My source just alerted me to this, a series about psychic ninjas based on a manga by, of all people, Ken Ishikawa (aka the author of Getter Robo). Anyway, a ninja princess named Yasha gets ensnared by tree roots multiple times. Before she gets impaled she's saved by a fire ninja named Jiraiya. I guess Pokemon lied to us, ice is not very effective against grass attacks.
